K-Series Launched At U.K. BMW Motorrad Dealerships
BMW K 1300 S, K 1300 R and K 1300 GT now in U.K. dealers
After much anticipation, the long awaited K-Series launch will be taking place at BMW dealerships across the country on Saturday 7 February 2009. Each showroom will be hosting an open day welcoming new and existing customers.
This year’s launch will provide a fun day for all. Visitors to BMW dealerships will be given the chance to book a test ride on the brand new K-Series bikes, enjoy a range of hospitality and participate in a competition to win the new Streetguard 3 Suit. The latest range of brochures offering a Select Finance offer on all models and the 2009 World of BMW Activity brochure will also be available.
The new K-Series range, consist of three models, all renowned for their high performance, advanced technology and powerful engines. Individually, the K 1300 S is the fastest motorcycle ever produced by BMW Motorrad, the K 1300 R ’super naked’ is the most technologically advanced in its class, and the K 1300 GT is the best high-speed tourer BMW has ever produced.
All three bikes are powered by a revised and larger capacity four-cylinder engine – from 1,157cc to 1,293cc. This has been developed to give a significant increase in power and torque, whilst refining its tractability and usability. The new exhaust system design for the S and R models includes an exhaust butterfly flap for more torque and a sportier sound, while the maximum output for the K 1300 S is up by 8 hp to 175 hp.
The K-Series bikes have already received positive reports from the press. On the recent press launch, MCN journalist Andy Downes said of the K 1300 GT: “The updated GT is a brilliant tourer. The revised engine works brilliantly in this package plus there’s all the creature comforts you’d expect: adjustable screen, optional heated grips and so on – 300 to 400 miles in a day would be absolutely no problem.”
After riding the K 1300 S Downes said: “It is fast, comfortable, practical, good looking and will handle anything thrown at it.”
Furthermore, he was complimentary about the K 1300 R: “It holds up very well- particularly in the performance stakes.”
