Like many others I have been looking forward to the arrival of the MP3 Hybrid; particularly if they produce a version with the wider track on the front wheels which can be driven on a car license, without having to take another Test (in the UK)…
BUT.
Have the engineers thought this through?
The vast amjority of people don't have a garage and park their scooter on the street. It sounds as if the battery pack is not removable. It is neither legal nor practical to string a power cable out of your front door and across the pavement to recharge your MP3. And if, for example, you live on the 6th floor of a block of flats, well, the whole idea becomes even more impractical. What a shame!
If the battery was optionally removable (and portable) then, suddenly the bike would be available to a whole host of potential - garageless - owners: i.e. the majority of us.
Removing it and taking the battery module home, or into the office, would also improve security, particularly if it was fitted with a PIN number or other restricted access device to make sure that a clever villain carrying a spare didn't make off with your precious machine.
Eureka?
